What is Made by St. George’s?

Made by St. George’s celebrates the creativity within our church family and neighbourhood, and this group is one of the ways we make space for that creativity to be shared, enjoyed, and encouraged.

We meet at the Tufnell Park Tavern on Mondays from 6–8 PM during term time.

Each week, people bring along all kinds of projects—knitting, crochet, embroidery, sketching, small sewing pieces, mending, and much more. Some arrive with something already well underway, while others come to sit with others, enjoy the pub setting, and see what inspiration might come. There is no expectation of skill or experience. It’s a gentle, easygoing space to unwind, meet neighbours, and discover the simple joy of making something with your hands.

The group is open to everyone in the community, whether or not you’re connected with St. George’s. You can drop in whenever you like; no sign‑up is needed.

If you enjoy crafting, want to try something new, or just need a friendly place to be on a Monday evening, we’d love to have you with us.

Winter 2026 Project: Hats for the Homeless

As part of Made by St. George’s, members of our community knit and crochet warm hats for people experiencing homelessness. These handmade hats are donated to Shelter UK at the end of each winter month.

What begins as a simple ball of yarn becomes a gesture of compassion, shaped stitch by stitch by volunteers from St. George’s and our wider neighbourhood. Each hat is created with someone in mind, carrying with it a sense of dignity, comfort, and hope.

If you would like to take part—whether you’re an experienced maker or entirely new to crafting—you’re warmly welcome to join us. Every hat helps, and every offering is a blessing. Materials and patterns provided, although yarn donations are greatly appreciated to keep the ministry going!
