Roof Project

We’re pleased to share that work on the church roof began on 12th July following the successful completion of our fundraising efforts. This long-awaited project addressed persistent leaks and structural issues that had affected the building for many years.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed, including the Richard Cloudesley Charity, Benefact Trust, and Garfield Weston Charity. Their generous support made this essential work possible.

  • The building work has been delayed by three and a half weeks and will now run from 7th August to 20th December 2025 (provisional end date).

    During this time:

    • The entire church site will be fenced off, with a passageway through the scaffolding to access the main glass entrance.

    • No car parking or drop-off will be available on site.

    • Internal work will take place during the school summer holidays and one week in autumn, affecting availability for external hire groups.

    • Church services and children’s party hire will continue throughout.

    • Once internal work is complete, weekday activities and hire groups will resume as normal, although natural light in the main space will be limited.

Please note: Residents near the church may experience some noise during construction. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Scaffolding will surround the building, including over the pavement on Carleton Road. Work will take place Monday to Friday during the day, and Saturday mornings until 1pm.

    • Full replacement of the upper and lower roof coverings

    • Installation of new fascias

    • Upgraded insulation to meet modern standards

    • Reopening of rooflights to increase natural light

    • We are actively working on plans to install solar PV panels on our large flat roof to reduce our carbon footprint. Design and fundraising efforts are ongoing.

The scaffolding goes up!
