Roof Project

It’s Finished!
After many years of preparation and fundraising it’s truely amazing to that our roof project is now completed and the roof is watertight.
We praise God for this relief and his blessing!
The roof fabric has all been replaced and new insulation added. The rooflights have all been restored so natural light can come in and the fascia and soffits (around and on the underside of the roof overhang) have been beautifully finished in zinc and metal.
But…
We want to install solar PV
Our focus is now on the follow-on project to fit Solar PV on the roof. See below for more information.
-
The preparation for installing solar panels started during the main roof project. This included an early decision (prompted by our insurer’s concerns about fire risk) to use fire-retardant insulation. The roof surface has also been boarded both to provide a surface to enable installation/maintenance and to spread the weight of the panels. Cabling for the panels was also installed when the wiring was put in for the new rooflights.
-
To install a 10 - 15kw array along with a battery (which will be housed in an external enclosure).
We will use ethically sourced solar panels.
We will use the same contractors as we have used for the main roof.
We are planning for the work to be done in the spring/summer of this year (2026).
The system is calculated to generate more that 9,000 kWh per year with 58% used on site (the system design is not finalised so these figures may change).es here

We have been awarded funding by Cloudesley Charity and Islington Community Energy Fund and have applied to London Community Energy Fund.
The funding shortfall is currently £15,000.
How to Donate
Donations towards the shortfall on the main project and towards the solar PV project can be made on our fundraising page:
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed so far, including the Richard Cloudesley Charity, Benefact Trust, and Garfield Weston Charity, as well as members of the church and wider community. Their generous support made this essential work possible.
