Blessing the Backpacks

On Sunday 6 September at 10.30am, we have a special all-age service to mark the beginning of a new term. It’s the new Feast of Creation in Christ, so we will be giving thanks for the world God has given us and the renewal of all things that is promised to us. And we’ll think about the new beginnings that we have in our own lives, as the seasons shift from summer to autumn.

Each year, we invite children to bring their school backpacks to church, to receive a blessing for the academic year ahead. Grown ups are welcome to bring their bags too! It’s a good way to be reminded that whatever environment we find ourselves in, God goes with us, instilling us with peace, courage and wisdom.
