London, 13 June 2026 — James (“Jimmy”) Anderson was ordained to the priesthood on Saturday 13 June at St Clement, King Square, in a powerful and joyful service led by The Rt Revd Rob Green, Bishop of Stepney. He was ordained alongside seven other deacons, marking a significant moment both in his vocation and in the life of the wider Church.

Through prayer, worship, the laying on of hands, and their first distribution of Holy Communion, each newly ordained priest was entrusted with the responsibilities of sacramental leadership, pastoral care, and the proclamation of the Gospel.

Jimmy has already made a significant contribution to church life at St George’s, generously sharing his gifts in a wide range of ways. He has become especially known for his warm welcome, thoughtful leadership of services, engaging preaching and formation courses, and faithful leading of prayers. His ministry has also extended to Children’s Church and Bubble Church, where his energy and encouragement have helped nurture younger members of the congregation. Parishioners have expressed deep gratitude for his ministry and all he brings to the life of the church.

The congregation is encouraged to continue praying not only for Jimmy, but also for Lauren, Sophie, Andrew, Cyril, Sarah, Andrea, and Michael, who were ordained alongside him, as they grow more deeply into their shared vocation and life in Christ.

We also encourage prayers of thanksgiving for:

  • Revd Alexandra, Jimmy’s incumbent and mentor

  • Jimmy’s family, including Crackers the pug — a much-loved member of St George’s!

  • All vocations staff and educators, who have supported the ordinands on their journey

Jimmy’s ordination marks a significant step in his calling, and the community looks forward with joy and hope to all that his priestly ministry will bring.
