A Day of Joy and History: Celebrating Archbishop Sarah Mullally

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
Full of honour and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures for ever.

Psalm 111:1-3

Today, the Church of England has witnessed an extraordinary moment in its long and storied history. Dame Sarah Mullally has been installed as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, becoming the first woman ever to serve in this role. This milestone shines with hope, courage, and new possibilities for the whole Anglican family. Her installation at Canterbury Cathedral on 25 March marks the beginning of her public ministry, welcomed by more than 2,000 guests gathered for this historic celebration (including our vicar, Revd. Alexandra)!

Today, we celebrate not only a new Archbishop but also the movement of the Holy Spirit in the life of our Church. May God bless Archbishop Sarah as she begins her ministry, and may her leadership inspire us to walk forward in faith, justice, and generous love.

Thanks be to God.
