Celebrate Holy Week & Easter at St. George's
Holy Week and Easter at St George’s Tufnell Park
As we move through these final weeks of Lent, St George’s is preparing to enter Holy Week with prayer, reflection, and shared hope. This is one of the most meaningful times in the church year, and we look forward to walking through it together as a community. Below is our full Holy Week and Easter itinerary, along with a note about this year’s diocesan confirmations.
All are warmly invited to join us.
Palm Sunday • 29 March
10.30 to 11.45 am • Communion Service with Children’s Church
We begin Holy Week by remembering Jesus entering Jerusalem. The service includes a time for Children’s Church, and we finish the morning with hot cross buns for everyone!
Maundy Thursday • 2 April
6.00 to 7.30 pm • Community Meal and the Story of the Last Supper
On Maundy Thursday we gather around the table for a simple meal and hear the story of the Last Supper. We recall the night Jesus shared a final meal with his friends. All are welcome to come and share in this quiet and reflective gathering.
Good Friday • 3 April
12.00 to 3.00 pm • Stations of the Cross and Open Church
The church will be open for quiet reflection on the meaning of Good Friday. This year we invite everyone to explore our newly created community Stations of the Cross, produced by members of our Children’s Church, Made by St. George’s Craft Group, the Wellbeing Café, and the wider congregation.
A short concert of Taizé-style choral music takes place at 1.00 pm.
Easter Sunday • 5 April
7.30 to 8.30 am • Sunrise Vigil
Easter Day begins outdoors around the fireside as we greet the rising light. After the Vigil, we share bubbly and breakfast.
10.30 to 11.45 am • All Age Easter Celebration
Our Easter morning service is joyful and welcoming to all ages. We celebrate the Resurrection together and finish with an Easter egg hunt in the garden.
A Special Notice: Diocesan Confirmations at St Paul’s Cathedral • 4 April; 6 PM
This year, several members of our congregation will be confirmed at the Easter Vigil and Diocesan Confirmation at St Paul’s Cathedral. This is a significant step in their journey of faith, and we hold them in our prayers with thanksgiving and joy.
A Prayer for the Confirmands
O Lord our God, we commend to you those who are about to seek your grace and to renew their vows in confirmation. Let your fatherly hand, we beseech you, ever be over them; let your Holy Spirit ever be with them; daily increase in them your manifold gifts of grace; and grant that they may continue thine for ever, until they come to your everlasting kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
