Black History Month: Events in the Stepney Area

This October, St George's is joining churches across London in marking Black History Month with a series of events that invite reflection, prayer, and action. These gatherings offer opportunities to engage with the richness of Black histories and to consider how we can build a more just and inclusive society.
Stepney at Prayer

St George in the East
Churches from across Islington, Hackney, and Tower Hamlets will gather for a shared evening of prayer inspired by Black History Month. St George's Tufnell Park will be joining in this time of spiritual reflection and unity.
Removing the Eraser Globally

A panel discussion exploring how we can reimagine belonging and celebrate the fullness of Black histories around the world. This online event brings together global voices to share insights and inspiration.

St Barnabas Kensington
An evening of reflection and dialogue exploring how Black stories, contributions, and identities have been overlooked or erased. What does it mean to “remove the eraser” in Britain today; in education, media, faith, and public life?
Racial Justice Pilgrimage
Friday 24 October | 10:00am–4:00pm
From Westminster to Ladbroke Grove
Led by Bishop Lusa and Bishop Anderson, with historian Robin Whitburn, this guided pilgrimage will visit ten historic sites across London. Each stop offers a moment to reflect on the legacy of racial injustice and the ongoing journey toward equity.
