Faithseekers is a small group of people who meet at a member's home, at 8pm on Tuesdays in term-time, to explore issues of faith.

We dare to go a bit deeper by raising questions and sharing thoughts in a safe and supportive setting. Sessions are usually themed, with those of us who wish taking turns to lead informal discussion, sometimes based on a book, film or TV programme.

Topics are suggested and agreed by the group.

We are always open to new members.  For more information, please speak to Dan, Catherine or Caroline on a Sunday morning or email the office.

Past discussion topics have included:

  • Biblical themes such as women in the Bible, parables, and the Holy Spirit
  • Individual books of the Bible
  • Different forms of prayer
  • The lives of Christian communities
  • What we can learn from other religions
  • Church history
  • Big topics of faith, such as the nature of God, sin, forgiveness, and salvation
  • Lives of saints and mystics such as Saint Francis, and Julian of Norwich

Faithseekers opening prayer:

Dear God of unbounded mystery and love

Thank you for holding each of us

And for bringing us safely here tonight

Thank you for the fellowship of this group

We ask you to guide us

So we can safely share our beliefs and doubts

Understand and support each other

And feel closer to you and your plans for us

Kindle in us and fan the flickering flame of our faith

That we may serve you better tomorrow and in the days to come

We ask you this in Jesus’ name

Faithseekers closing prayer:

May the peace of the night enfold us

So that we may be bathed in love

The love of the Father who made us

The love of the Son who died for us

The love of the Spirit who dwells within us

Bless us and keep us

May heaven come close as we sleep this night

And angels surround us with Christ’s pure light
